Frequently asked questions about glass service
Does my insurance cover the cost?
With comprehensive cover, glass damage is usually included. A stone chip repair can often be done without affecting your no-claims bonus. We're happy to check this for you and handle the process with your insurer.
Can a stone chip be repaired or does the window need replacing?
It depends on size and position. Small chips outside the driver's direct field of view can usually be repaired. Larger damage, cracks or damage in the field of view normally require a replacement.
Does anything need calibrating after a windscreen replacement?
In modern vehicles, cameras and sensors for assistance systems often sit behind the windscreen. After a replacement we recalibrate these systems so lane-keep assist, emergency braking and the like work reliably again.
How long does the repair take?
A stone chip repair usually takes less than an hour. A full windscreen replacement including calibration takes longer — we'll go through the exact process when booking your appointment.
